Bryan Mbeumo admitted that he had had interviews with a certain number of managers before committing to Manchester United – but finally decided that Ruben Amorim's vision for the club suits him.

The Cameroon striker became the second great signature of the summer of the summer, arriving from Brentford in an agreement which could reach 71 million pounds sterling.

While the Amorim team was for a long time fronts for the Wolves Matheus Cunha striker, the pursuit of Mbeumo was less simple while Newcastle United and Tottenham also worked hard to try it to Old Trafford.

Despite the offers that included football from the Champions League, the 25 -year -old chose United because of the project presented to him by Amorim.

“I spoke to some other managers because I wanted to hear their projects, but that of Manchester United was very good for me,” said Mbeumo.

“Manchester United is a big club. I think it's an excellent opportunity and I chose the project. I think I am someone who loves a challenge. There is a very good project in Manchester and I wanted to be part of it.

“It was a very friendly conversation [with Amorim] and a constructive. He explained his project to me, what he wanted to do and I really clicked on it.

“He said,” We are people who like to win, and we want to be the best team “, and of course, that's what we are going to try to do.”

Negotiations with Brentford proved to be long and, according to sources, caused a frustration against United.

The club thought that Brentford pushed Mbeumo to other Premier League teams and frequently adjusted their requested price, creating an elaborate process that lasted several weeks.

By thinking about this period, Mbeumo said, “You must be patient and try to continue to think positively about things.

“I was obviously on vacation, so I just wanted to think of resting mentally and physically and if it was going to happen, it was going to happen. I trust my people and I was convinced that it was going to happen. ”

The striker signed in time to join the team during his pre-season tour of the United States, but a later that planned training has noted that he is still waiting to make his first appearance in a red shirt.

He may have to wait for the friendly match against Fiorentina in Old Trafford, just a week before the first League kick off to make his debut.

While adapting to life to United, Mbeumo spent time binding with his new teammates and looking for a chess partner during the trip.

“I was told that Josh [Zirkzee] Play, so I may need to play against him and bring the chess board, “he said.

“Playing online is anonymous. I have a username, you choose a nickname and simply play against online random people, and I use my own chess card against them.

“Chess, even if it is not physical, there is a lot of reflection.

“When you play football, you must also think. Play chess, you can see movements from the front because it is a strategy game. In football, you also have your strategy so you can connect them together.

“There was a period when I was really, really in it.

“I was watching videos on YouTube doing a training on the application. I think even for the brain, it's really, really good.

“You do football most of the time, every day, so sometimes you don't really have time to develop other skills. I like creativity and all that.”
