Blue Jays acquires Shane Bieber de Guardians

The Blue Jays de Toronto added a major room to their pitching staff, ending a trade Thursday to acquire the former winner of the Cy Young Award Shane Bieber of the Cleveland Guardians.
In return, Cleveland will receive the prospect of pitching Khal Stephen, a choice of second round recovery in 2023 in the state of Mississippi.
Bieber, 30, was one of the most dominant starters in the League earlier in his career, capturing the American League Cy Young in 2020.
However, his 2024 season stopped brutal after only two departures due to an elbow injury which ultimately required surgery.
Since he underwent the procedure in April 2024, Bieber dates back to his way. He made three rehabilitation appearances in minors.
Before trade, he was to join the Cleveland rotation later in August.
Toronto now has one of the deepest rotations in baseball, joining Bieber with Kevin Gausman, Chris Bassitt, Eric Lauer, Jose BerrĂos and Max Scherzer.
If Bieber can find something close to its shape before the injury, it could quickly become a front line option for an eliminatory series.
There will be no financial adjustments as part of the agreement, the Blue Jays assuming the rest of the Bieber contract, which pays him $ 10 million for 2025 with a player option of $ 16 million for 2026.
During his stay with Cleveland, Bieber compiled a record of 62-32, winning two selections of stars.
This marks the second addition of Toronto of the week, following the acquisition of the tighthone lift Dominguez of Baltimore Orioles.
By entering Thursday's action, the Blue Jays had an advantage of four games on New York Yankees in the Al East ranking despite a team era of 4.27, which ranks 22nd in MLB.
