California Partners with Tech Giants to Boost AI Workforce
The partnerships aim to prepare students from high schools in California state universities on careers in artificial intelligence and other aspiring technologies
Governor Gavin Newsom announced that California has signed agreements with large technology companies Google, Adobe, IBM and Microsoft in order to offer students across the state of advanced AI training. The partnerships aim to prepare students from high schools at the state universities in California for careers in artificial intelligence and other aspiring technologies.
The initiatives will modernize the curricula, offer access to modern AI tools and promote networking and internship opportunities for students. Newsom emphasized that these efforts are crucial for keeping California at the top of the global tech industry. “AI is the future – and we have to continue to develop by ensuring that our students and workforce are ready to keep the way,” said Newsom.
The technology companies involved will offer their resources for schools free of charge, including AI software, curriculum activity and expert instructions. For example, Adobe will expand access to his AI tools for use in the classroom, while Google offers free online courses to support students and educators in developing AI alphabetization. IBM will integrate AI of career programs on community colleges, and Microsoft will support KI and cyber security training throughout the California Community Colleges system.
In the home of 33 of the 50 best AI companies in the world, California is intended to strengthen its position as an epicenter of AI innovation. State officials, including Stewart Knox from Labor & Workforce Development Agency, found that the flowing AI tools of California students will be given a competitive advantage on the labor market.
In addition to the development of the workforce, the partnerships with the wider goal of California correspond to ensuring that the AI is used responsibly. The Executive Order of Newsom laid the foundation for ethical AI practices at the beginning of this year, and the state is already using AI in government projects, such as:
These new agreements reflect California's engagement for the use of its technical management in order to create economic opportunities for all residents and at the same time ensure the responsible use of AI. In the further course of the partnership, the heads of state focus on the preparation of the next generation on a AI-controlled future.
