Pep Guardiola louds “special” reijnders after Dutch midfielder bags in Manchester City Wan against Palermus
Manchester City director Pep Guardiola praised the Tijjani Reijnders as a “special player” after the Dutch international marked a splint in a 3-0 victory against Palermo in Sicily.
The midfielder, an arrival of 46 million pounds from AC Milan this summer, impressed out of the bench and Twice found the net after Erling Haaland's early opening.
Reijnders, who was appointed best midfielder in Serie A in 2024/25, is at ease to operate from a deeper role in the city's machine room, but it is the 27 -year -old talents that seem to have impressed his new manager.
“We knew he [Reijnders] is a special player arriving in the box. He likes to do this, ”said Guardiola.
“People in Italy know him perfectly. He scored two goals and he had a fantastic performance like the rest of his friends.
“He can play as a midfielder, but he likes to arrive at the box to help our attackers like Erling and Omar and all those who play there. We are really satisfied.”
Before the start of the new Premier League season next weekend, when City went to Wolves, Guardiola was also praise for the other two major signatures of the club during this transfer window.
The city boss added: “The three signatures we made before the club World Cup were really good – [Rayan] Cherki, [Rayan] Ait Nouri and him [Reijnders].
“The same with Khusanov in January. He has shown his potential today and he is one of the fastest players I have seen.
“We have not played several games, we have trained well, but now we will return to Manchester, try to make a good week and prepare the games.”
