Nottingham forest coach needs points after an excessive objective of lens
Nottingham Forest launched the 2025/26 season in style with a categorical 3-1 victory against Brentford at City Ground. However, for the coach of the Forest goalkeepers, Rui Barbosa, it was a day to forget – although he has already done so.
After Chris Wood opened the scoring just five minutes from the match, Barbosa celebrated wildly, jumping from his seat – only to break his head directly on the canoe, leaving him heavily bleeding.
The Portuguese coach was quickly followed by the medical staff, the head coach of the Nuno Espirito Santo forest revealing after the match that Barbosa needed points to repair a large cup on his head.
“He has six stitches!” Said Santo. “It was mean. A bad. He was dizzy.”
As for the rest of the match – which saw Forest 3-0 at halftime thanks to a Wood splint and a superb diving head from the Summer Signature Dan Ndoye – Santo was unreservedly delighted.
“I'm delighted,” he said after the match. “The way we started the match was incredible. We played well, we dominated, we checked the goal in the first five minutes of team and energy regulation.”
One thing is certain: Barbosa definitely felt this energy – and the clear end of the canoe – more than most.
