Keegan Bradley insists that winning the Ryder Cup is the “only thing” he cares after being “broken heart” by leaving his captain's choice for Bethpage Black.
Bradley was a consideration to be the first captain playing the Ryder Cup since Arnold Palmer in 1963, after winning the Travelers championship in June as part of an impressive season on the PGA Tour.
The 39 -year -old man missed one of the six automatic qualification places, ending in 11th place, Bradley always undecided to play a double role for the American team in front of him, ending equally at the seventh at the end of season tour championship.
Bradley confirmed that he had elected a captain to play when he revealed his six captain choices, with Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa, Ben Griffin, Cameron Young, Patrick Cantlay and Sam Burns selected to complete the Team USA program.
“It was a really difficult decision,” said Bradley during his press conference. “I would say that there was one point this year when I played, some time ago, and all these guys intervened in a major way and played their way to this team.
“This is something that I am really proud of and something I really wanted. But it was an extremely difficult decision but which I am really happy with. I'm really happy with these six players, and I'm glad it's over.
“I grew up wanting to play Ryder Cups. I grew up wanting to fight alongside these guys. It broke my heart not to play.
“I was chosen to be the captain of this team. My ultimate goal of starting this thing was to be the best captain I could be.
“I was going to do everything I thought better for this team. I know 100% for some that it is the right choice. These six guys, once again, played so incredibly going down here and made my decision much easier.”
Scottie Scheffler, JJ Spaun, Xander Schauffele, Russell Henley, Harris English and Bryson Dechambeau were the six automatic qualifications, announced after the conclusion of the BMW championship, with the Team USA range containing four recruits and only six survivors of their defeat in 2023 in Rome.

“I have never really considered playing before travelers. Then it was really on the table for a while. In the end, I felt like I was really comfortable with the guys, extremely comfortable.
“I don't care if I play, I don't play, as long as we win on Sunday. It's the only thing that is close to my heart.”
