FC Koln head coach runs heads for unusual puffs

FC Koln launched their Bundesliga campaign in a perfect style, winning its two opening games, the last being a dominant 4-1 victory over Freiburg. But although the results were impressive, it was manager Lukas Kwasniok who took the spotlight.

Instead of the usual combination or tracksuit, the Polish coach turned heads by wearing Koln match shirts on the sidelines.

He wore the kit outside the opening weekend at Massez, before spending the third kit for the confrontation of Freiburg.

Explaining the decision, Kwasniok said he wanted to show his dedication to the club.

“I saw the presentation of Jersey during a sponsor event and I had goosebumps. And the same with the black jersey. Then the decision was clear for me: if I am allowed to do it, I will do it,” He said In an post-match interview, Koln's opening day against Mayin. “I want to get involved in this club, and I do it, and I also wear this jersey with pride.”

With a smile, he also admitted that there was a personal reason behind the choice: “I thought that the combination of black and white-red makes you a little thinner. From what I saw on television after the match, it didn't really work so well.”

Koln is now third in the Bundesliga behind only Bayern Munich and Eintracht Francfurt. And with the momentum on its side, it is unlikely that someone cares if their manager continues to shake up the colors of the club every weekend.
