England vs South Africa: Victory of Proteas Seal at 14 points in the opening of the T20i series affected by the rain in Cardiff | Cricket news

England fell to a 14 -point defeat against South Africa in a first short t20i against South Africa ravaged by the rain in Cardiff.

The persistent showers delayed the start of the two -hour and 20 -minute match, leaving only a nine -overs competition.

Aiden Markram (28 out of 14 balls) and Donovan Ferreira (25 steps out of 11) propelled South Africa to 97-5 in 7.5 overs before another deluge put their premature sleeves.

The Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method saw England set a revised 69-overtime target, but their prosecution never ignited after Phil Salt fell to the first ball.

Jacob Bethell managed seven years, while Captain Harry Brook left for a three-ball duck while England had dropped to 28-3 in three Overs.

England loses the first T20 hit in the rain

England has brought a late change to their XI, replacing Jofra Archer by Luke Wood due to conditions.

After winning the draw, Harry Brook chose to continue and Wood struck the second ball – removing Ryan Rickelton for a golden duck and the Lhuan -dre Pretorius shortly after.

Markram was abandoned twice before falling to the third attempt for a thin stream for 28. Dewald Brevis castigated three six before Sam Curran marked his first appearance in England in almost a year with his counter.

Tristan Stubbs added 13 before being played by Jamie Overton, and an unbeaten 25 Ferreira saw England established a hard 69 balls to win.

Kagiso Rabada was back in the attack on Proteas after missing the ODI series and removed the salt with his first ball.

The hopes of England actually ended when buttler, after hitting three six and a four in his 25, sneered Marco Jansen behind the last pen of the penultimate.

Banton left the next ball and, despite a final resistance from Curran, England failed.

Brook: I can't read too much on the defeat

Captain of England Harry Brook: “We can't really read this to be honest. It was a lot of things happening throughout the game.

“It was very wet in the patches. It is for the big dogs above me to make these decisions … We just have to go there and try to perform as best we can, and we did not execute as well as we could have done.”

Markram: It was like madness

Captain of South Africa Aiden Markram: “It was difficult with the way things happened. It was like madness, to be honest.

“While waiting for most of the day, the next thing you know that you are in the park and you fight.

“I am satisfied with the guys for having obtained a fairly good score on the board, then the quisors had good projects and executed them more often than no, which was pleasant.”
