Finals of the World Series of Darts: Michael Van Gerwen, Luke Humphries, Rob Cross in the second round while Stephen Bunting comes out | Darts News
Michael Van Gerwen set up a confrontation in the second round with Rob Cross at the finals of the World Series of Darts after having preceded Wessel Nijman in an exciting first -round confrontation in Amsterdam.
Van Gerwen, to continue a sixth record title, overcome a fiery Nijman in a last -level decision maker.
Nijman led 2-0, 3-1 and 5-4, but Van Gerwen produced a superb finish of 132 on the bull and survived a match dart before sealing the victory with a configuration of 174 and a double 18, on average 104.75.
“Wessel is a great player, and his cover shot was phenomenal,” said Van Gerwen. “I felt the whole match. It was one of my best performances in Holland for a long time.”
Luke Humphries also survived two game darts to defeat the 2018 James Wade champion in another stretched case.
The Humphries of the world n ° 1 have an average of 99 and pulled legs of 14 and 13 darts to overthrow a deficit of 5-4.
“It was a strange performance,” admitted Humphries. “A minute was great, the next poor one. I'm going back in shape and I'm happy to win.”
The Stephen Bunting series was sent to the packaging by Dutch no 2 Danny Noppert, who now faces the Josh Rock World Cup champion.
Noppert won 6-4, while Rock sealed a 6-3 victory against Krzysztof Ratajski with a 121 Bullseye box.
Cross made a winning return to the Netherlands, beating Haupai Puha 6-3 from New Zealand with a 60%double success rate.
Cross has raised the title of Masters Darts Darts to Den Bosch earlier this year.
