Pep Guardiola lightened the atmosphere on the sidelines during the 1-1 draw of Manchester City with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, sharing an unusual moment with the fourth official Craig Pawson.

City had taken an early advance thanks to the strike of Erling Haaland in the ninth minute and considered the victory before the Gunners returned late.

In the last stages, Guardiola found himself in a living exchange with Pawson on the sidelines.

Instead of leaving the revelation of him, the city boss suddenly relied and planted a kiss on Pawson's cheek. The official fell, temporarily surprised but with a smile, before resuming his duties, while Guardiola glea with his hands on his hips – both by clearly seeing the funny side.

Guardiola's smile did not last long. A few moments later, after Pawson pointed out for seven minutes of injury, City conceded deeply in the stoppage. Gabriel Martinelli rescued a point for Arsenal, superbly rechoking Gianluigi Donnarumma to cancel the opening of Haaland.

The result means that Arsenal remains undefeated during their last five Premier League meetings with City.

Addressing Sky Sports after the match, Guardiola praised his team's resilience.

“Today, we have played against a powerful team,” he said. “Hats off to our team for resilience. It's so difficult when you are not effective with high pressure, it's always difficult in construction. We have made transitions. I think the result is right. In general, Arsenal was better.”

No mention of the kiss, however. Poor Craig Pawson.
