With Dallas now down to 16 players, it's worth keeping an eye on how they'll cut the roster before the campaign begins.
Mavericks came in first preseason game against the reigning NBA champions
Ahead of the 2025-26 campaign, the Dallas Mavericks are looking to bounce back after failing to make the playoffs last season.
With a healthy Anthony Davis paired with No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg, Dallas coach Jason Kidd is excited despite no timetable for Kyrie Irving's return.
The team came up big in its first preseason game Monday, beating the OKC Thunder 106-89. Flagg recorded 10 points, six rebounds and three assists in 14 minutes.
Kidd shared after the game how having Flagg in Irving's absence will be huge for the Mavericks.
“That’s going to be one of our strengths, being able to run him the ball, being able to make reads, running the pick-and-roll,” Kidd said. “I thought he did a great job finding guys. For an 18-year-old, it's kind of special and fun to watch his ability to handle the ball in those situations and he's only going to get better.”
It remains to be seen whether Dalano Banton, who was signed Monday, will earn a roster spot.
