3 WWE Stars Who Can Break John Cena's 17 World Championship Record

John Cena is just weeks away from retiring from professional wrestling and is poised to leave behind a legacy that almost no one can match. The greatest of all time has proven time and again why he is one of the most decorated and celebrated stars in the history of the industry.

One of Cena's biggest victories on his retirement tour came at WrestleMania 41 when he defeated Cody Rhodes to make history and become a 17-time world champion. With this massive victory, the Franchise Player has made his place in the record books, and it is very unlikely that any star in the industry will be able to break this legendary record.

While it seems highly doubtful that any star would be able to wipe the Franchise Player from the record books in this case, let's take a look at some names that might have a chance to make history.

#3. Roman rule

OTC Roman rule currently has around 6 world championship reigns (four as WWE Champion and two as Universal Champion) in WWE. The tribal leader dominated the title scene and achieved his own record, reigning as Universal Champion for 1,316 days.

Although Reigns may be considered one of the biggest names in the business, he might have a small chance to make history and break Cena's record. Considering his character, Reigns could also have a longer title reign in the future, making it difficult for him to reach 17 years. However, OTC could be one of the top contenders to take over Cena's record among the entire roster.

#2. John Cena's main rival – Randy Orton

The Viper Randy Orton also etched his name in the history books, with 14 world championship reigns in WWE (10 WWE Championships and 4 World Heavyweight Championships).

The Viper is only three points behind John Cena's 17, which almost allows him to break the record. However, as the Legend Killer approaches his own retirement, it is very difficult for the Viper to secure a few more world title reigns.

#1. Charlotte Flair

Queen Charlotte Flair is currently a 14-time WWE Women's World Champion (1 Divas Championship, 6 Raw Women's Championships and 7 SmackDown Women's Championships). Tiing the Viper's record, Flair tops the list of stars who could make history and break John Cena's record as a 17-time world champion.

While Flair still has a few years left in his career, it's quite possible that the queen won 4 more titles before his retirement. However, the bigger question is: will WWE want Flair to break John Cena's record?

Fans will have to wait and see if any superstar comes close to John Cena's 17th world title in the future.
