Best Counters and Strategy to Solo Defeat Poison Hydreigon 7 Star Tera Raid in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

These are the best Pokémon to solo defeat Poison Hydreigon 7 stars Tera Raid in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet:
- Malamar
- Happiness
- Espathra
Below you can find a detailed explanation of the builds you need to use on all of these Pokémon to solo defeat 7-star Poison Tera Hydreigon:
1) Malamar

Use this version of Malamar to defeat 7-star Poison Tera Hydreigon solo:
- Type of Tera: Psychic
- Ability: Opposite
- Item held: Shell bell
- Nature: Modest (+Sp. Atk, -Atk)
- EV propagation: 252 HP / 252 speeds. Def / 4 Sp. Attack
- IV: Hyper trained
- Set of movements: Calm Mind, Skill Swap, Rest, Stored Power/Psycho Cut
Malamar is the best counter you can use to solo defeat the 7-star Poison Tera Hydreigon raid in Pokémon Scarlet and Purple.. The star of the show is your Contrary ability, which you'll transfer to Hydreigon using Skill Swap. This will allow Hydreigon to automatically debuff itself every time it uses Nasty Plot, and its damage output will decrease significantly.
As soon as you enter the fight, Hydreigon will start with a Snarl, which will improve Malamar's stats thanks to the Contrary. Next, you'll want to immediately use Skill Swap, permanently giving Hydreigon the Opposite ability. Hit Calm Mind once, then go for Stored Power or Psycho Cut to deal damage.
70% of the time, Hydreigon will use Nasty Plot. Due to the Opposite he now has, Hydreigon will debuff himself instead. Keep using Stored Power or Psycho Cut to deal damage. Make sure to terastalize as soon as you have enough charge. If your health is low, hit the Rest move and collect everything. You can also opt for a Cheer, although it's better to use it to increase stats instead.
Hydreigon will launch into another Nasty Plot about 55% of the time, further lowering its special attack. This will also reset your stats at this point, so hit another Calm Mind and continue using your attack moves. Finally, at 40% health, Hydreigon will use Dragon Dance. Unfortunately, Opposite will weaken it further. At this point, victory is guaranteed.
Note that because this build is based on giving Unlike Hydreigon, you don't want Intimidate users among your AI teammates. If you have someone with this ability, reset the Raid and continue until there are none left. Other supports like Bellibolt (for Light Screen) and Gardevoir (for healing) work very well in this setup.

2) Happiness

For Blissey, here is the build you should use:
- Type of Tera: Psychic
- Ability: Natural remedy
- Item held: Secret Cloak
- Nature: Calm (+Sp. Def, -Atk)
- EV propagation: 252 HP / 252 speeds. Def / 4 Sp. Attack
- IV: Hyper trained
- Set of movements: Calm mind, soft boil, bright screen, stored energy
Blissey is a comfortable choice for solo defeating the 7-star Hydreigon Poison Raid in Pokémon Scarlet and Purple. A hyper-trained Blissey has a huge amount of health, allowing it to take hits from Hydreigon better than other options.. Blissey's ability itself doesn't matter for this build, however, you'll want to maximize PP from boiled and stored power.
At the start of the fight, use Calm Mind four times to increase your multipliers. If at any point your health drops below 50% (or 400 HP), use Soft Boiled to bring it back up. Once you have four stacks of Calm Mind, continue hitting Hydreigon with Stored Power. Again, terastalize as soon as possible to further maximize your damage.
Before you break Hydreigon's tera shield, make sure to set up your own light screen. This will block a significant portion of Dark Pulse's damage, which Hygreigon will use frequently. You don't have to worry about Nasty Plot uses, since your Calm Mind + Soft Boiled combo will easily support you.
Once Hydreigon resets Blissey's stats, this is where things can get slightly tricky. You must alternate between using Calm Mind and Soft Boiled to ensure survival. The goal is to get at least three stacks of Calm Mind, after which two or three stored power will completely deplete Hydreigon's health.

3) Espathra

Here is the Espathra build you should use against 7-star Poison Tera Hydreigon:
- Type of Tera: Psychic
- Ability: Opportunistic
- Item held: Secret Cloak
- Nature: Calm (+Sp. Def, -Atk)
- EV propagation: 252 HP / 252 speeds. Def / 4 Sp. Attack
- IV: Hyper trained
- Set of movements: Calm Mind, Lumina Crash, Roost
Espathra is a rather unconventional choice for solo defeating 7-star Poison Tera Hydreigon. The key factor here again lies in its Opportunist ability, which copies any buff Hydreigon applies to itself.. From the start, keep hitting Lumina Crash and dealing damage, while also reducing Hydreigon's special defense.
Around 82% of the time, Hydreigon will reset its stats. Even at this point, you should just focus on hitting with Lumina Crash and dealing as much damage as possible while lowering its Special Defense stat again. If you drop below 50% HP at any point, use Roost to get it back.
Every time Hydreigon uses Nasty Plot, which will be twice during the entire raid, Espathra's Opportunist will come into play and increase its stats as well. This will work to your advantage to deal extra damage with Lumina Crash, especially if Hydreigon's defenses are already reduced.
If you're sure you're about to be eliminated, be sure to cheer and increase your attack stats to get the permanent buff. Similar to all other builds, terastalize as soon as your charge is over and simply spam Lumina Crash until you completely destroy Hydreigon's health.
Since Espathra doesn't have much health, you need to properly regulate Roost usage in order to sustain yourself. The only major risk is if Hydreigon launches a critical attack, which can potentially STAB you without the chance to use Roost. However, this is a coincidence and should not affect the situation too much in most cases.
Besides these Pokémon, you can also use other options like Gallade, Groudon, or Landorus with Smack Down to negate levitation, or even Galarian Slowking to solo defeat Poison Hydreigon in 7-star Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Tera Raid.
