Trump Ordered by federal judge To Fund SNAP By Friday
The loss of SNAP benefits is looming size for weeks now as the Republican led government shutdown has put food insecurity at the top of the list of things concerning Americans. Millions of families, including MAGA families, are at risk of not being able to afford groceries for themselves and their children as a result of Trump's flagrant apathy for public services.
According to ABCNewsA federal judge has ruled that Trump has until Friday (today) to make full payment to continue SNAP benefit funding.
“People have been without for too long, not paying them for another day is simply not acceptable,” said US District Judge John J. McConnell Jr.
Judge McConnell also issued a full rebuke of Trump's open opposition to the court's decision before a ruling had even been made.
“In fact, the day before compliance was ordered, the president declared his intention to defy the court order when he said, 'SNAP payments will only be given when the government opens,'” the judge said.
Fortunately, there are still people of means who are not as angry at poor and working-class families as Trump. WSBTV reports that writer, director and film producer Tyler Perry has opened his wallet to drop $1.4 million on Atlanta-area charities such as the Atlanta Community Food Bank, Meals on Wheels Atlanta, Caring for Others, All for Lunch, Ron Clark Academy, and Goodr that work to provide food for those in need.
“If you've never been poor, you can't fully understand the life-changing impact SNAP benefits mean for hard-working people, for our seniors and for our children. For millions of people, it can mean extreme hunger. For newborns, it can mean a lack of access to formula,” Perry told People Magazine.
He added: “Compassion is not politics, it is humanity and we seem to be lacking both at the moment.”
