Lewis Hamilton and Cristiano Ronaldo find a place while Max Verstappen is absent
Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff has shared his top four for the Mount Rushmore sculpture. Naming Lewis Hamilton and Cristiano Ronaldo as two of his four choices, the Mercedes boss moved on from Max Verstappen, a driver he has been pursuing for some time now.
In a recent video shared by Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team on X, Wolff revealed the names. It started with Lewis Hamilton, the most successful F1 driver, followed by Cristiano Ronaldo, arguably the greatest footballer.
He then chose Tom Brady, the NFL's biggest star, followed by Roger Federerone of the most successful tennis stars. Sharing his choices, here is what he said:
“So who would be my top four athletes for Mount Rushmore? Lewis Hamilton, obviously the GOAT. Then Ronaldo (Cristiano Ronaldo), Tom Brady, Roger Federer.”
Here's the video in which Toto Wolff chose his top four names for Mount Rushmore:
Interestingly, Toto Wolff chose four names from four different sports. In doing so, he avoided choosing two athletes from the same sport and, as a result, Verstappen missed out. However, it was not guaranteed that Verstappen would make the list, given that Wolff also had Ayrton Senna or drivers like Michael Schumacheror Niki Lauda, with whom he worked at Mercedes.
As for Wolff and Hamilton, the duo worked together for over a decade, where they won eight consecutive constructors' championships from 2014 to 2021 at the Silver Arrows. That said, Wolff also shares a deep appreciation for Max Verstappen. A few months ago, Wolff showed active interest in the Dutchman at Mercedes following the departure of Lewis Hamilton.
Toto Wolff on his appreciation for Max Verstappen: “Never neglect Max”
Toto Wolff has praised Max Verstappen after the Dutchman's mega podium at the Brazilian GP. Speaking to the media after the race, this is what the Silver Arrows boss said:

“It's quite interesting, the big step they took. They changed the floor, they went to the oldest one. A new engine obviously always helps, like we had with Lewis back then. But never neglect Max, even if he starts from the last one.”
Max Verstappen had a stunning race in Sao Paulo during the Brazilian GP, where he started from the pit lane, suffered a puncture and despite this, went on to secure the podium. Four-time world champion Verstappen is still looking for his fifth as he is set to take on Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri.
