The 2026 DP World Tour season kicked off with the BMW Australian PGA Championship. It was one of the most anticipated tournaments, with a total prize pool of $1.6 million, and it took place at the Royal Queensland Golf Club. If the course was generally favorable to golfers, Joaquin Niemann did not have a good time there.

During the first round of the tournament, the Chilean golfer experienced a roller coaster of emotions. He finished the first day with an even score, having made four birdies and four bogeys. Niemann's second day wasn't much different, as he made 6 birdies and 6 bogeys to finish in a tie. The tournament's 36-hole cut was set at 2 under par, and Niemann missed it by two strokes.

A total of 77 golfers qualified and after the third round, three golfers lead the tournament with scores of 13 under par. The three golfers are: David Puig, Ricardo Gouveia and Anthony Quayle.
