Rory McIlroy reveals rare gift from long-time caddie Harry Diamond after historic 2025 Masters victory

Rory McIlroy left the world amazed with his historic career Grand Slam victory at Augusta National this year. The Northern Irishman recently revealed a Christmas present he received from his long-time caddy Harry Diamond to commemorate his achievement.

14 years after the heartbreak of the 2011 Masters, McIlroy finally won the green jacket in April 2025. With his fifth major and first Masters victory, the former world number 1 became the sixth golfer to enter the famous club of career Grand Slam winners.

On the Fried Eggs Golf PodcastMcIlroy shared a gift he received from Harry, a rare Augusta National card signed by former career Grand Slam winners, Tiger woodGary Player, Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan and Jack Nicklaus. Commenting on the gift, the Hollywood native said:

“Actually, I have something right next to me here, and I think you'll like it. So Harry, give me that, it's kind of like an early Christmas present in Australia last week and I'm going to show it off.

“This is the first time anyone has really seen it…and he brought it to me, he brought it to me with a Sharpie and said, do you want to sign it? Absolutely not and I said, I just hope I don't have to get Scotty to sign it next year…”

McIlroy and Diamond are childhood friends. Diamond's first time caddying was in 2005, when a 16-year-old McIlroy competed in the Irish Open. McIlroy initially had JP Fitzgerald in his bag from his PGA Tour debut until Diamond was hired for the role in 2017.

Rory McIlroy was visibly emotional just after sinking that final putt in the sudden-death playoff. In addition to hugging his family, the professional golfer also shared a heartwarming hug with his fundraiser, Harry Diamond.

During the press conference at Augusta National, a teary-eyed McIlroy acknowledged Diamond's presence in his life and added: via Golf Digest:

“We had so many good times together. He was like a big brother to me throughout my life.”

“To be able to share this with him after all the close incidents we've had, all the bullshit he's had to endure from people who don't know anything about the game, yeah, this one is as much his as it is mine.”

Rory McIlroy and Harry Diamond have won multiple tournaments and have also had heartbreaking near misses since the latter became his caddy. Even before their first victory together at the Masters, the PGA Tour professional said how he found Diamond to be the best friend he could ask for.
