A quiet neighborhood in Los Angeles was left in the lurch this week after the authorities confirmed that two people were found dead inside a residence owned by acclaimed filmmaker Rob Reiner.
Emergency services were called to the property in the 250 block of Chadbourne Avenue in Brentwood at 3:38 p.m. following reports of a medical incident and upon arrival first responders discovered the bodies of a man, 78, and a woman, 68.

Their identities have not been publicly released, and police have not confirmed their relationship to the family. LAPD sources said ABC News that the police initially started with a death investigation which later developed into a murder case.
A department spokesman noted that detectives from the LAPD's Robbery-Homicide Division were also on the scene.

Who is Rob Reiner?
Rob, 78, and his wife Michele Singer have not been linked to the incident outside of the property's ownership. However, neighbors confirmed to the outlet that the couple lives in the house and matches the age of the deceased people.
A towering figure in Hollywood, Rob is best known for directing iconic films including The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, and A Few Good Men, as well as his early acting career on All in the Family.

Who is Rob Reiner's wife?
Rob was introduced to his second and current wife, photographer Michele, while directing When Harry Met Sally. The two tied the knot in 1989, and share three children – Jake (34), Nick (32), and Romy (28).
Sharing a sweet story of their beginnings, Rob recalled once seeing Michelle Pfeiffer on the cover of Premiere magazine and told the film's director of photography, Barry Sonnenfeld, that he would reach out to her.

However, Barry told Rob: “You're not going to call her, you're going to marry my friend, Michele Singer.”
An ongoing investigation
Shocked neighbors in the area described the street as typically calm and private, adding to the shock of the discovery. Police have asked for patience while forensic investigations and interviews continue.
However, at this stage officials are urging the public to avoid speculation, noting that further information will be released once next of kin have been notified and investigators can confirm the circumstances involved.
