Was Trae Young traded to the Knicks? Debunking the viral rumor about Hawks Star Guard

A report was published on X (formerly Twitter) that the Atlanta Falcons traded All-Star guard Trae Young At New York Knicks. There have been discussions about a potential trade for the Star Guard. However, there is no indication which team could make a deal with the Hawks.

The so-called business news was posted by the X account “NBA Centel”. The page is known for being a parody account, often posting misleading headlines and satire related to the league. It is false that the Hawks traded their best player to the Knicks.

It wouldn't make sense for the Knicks to trade for Trae Young since they have a star guard in their midst. Jalen Brunson. They've been focused on building a contending team around Brunson, and adding another elite point guard would be an unsmart move.

NBA Centel has published misleading headlines in the past. It even fooled Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors. A fake graphic created by the page about KG's statement regarding Green's punching incident with Jordan Poole was published. The Warriors star called out the 2008 champion and said this in a now-deleted tweet:

“I tried you when I was a KG rookie, and you started talking to yourself like I wasn't talking to you. How's it going? The freshman picking on the senior who's twice his size?”

Garnett pointed out to Green that this was a false quote and asked Elon Musk to correct it.

“This is a fake tweet. 'NBA Centel'…” Garnett responded. “@elonmusk see what’s happening 🤣🤣”

Fans should exercise caution when using parody accounts, such as NBA Centel, as they can be misleading and spread inaccurate information.

Lou Williams wants Trae Young to be happy

Trae Young is in a tough spot with the Atlanta Hawks. The team has struggled to find success in recent seasons, leading to trade rumors involving Young.

Former NBA player Lou Williams spoke about the situation in Atlanta on Tuesday's episode of FanDuel TV's “Run It Back.”

“I would be happy for Trae to be happy, wherever he is,” Williams said. “Whether it's Atlanta or somewhere else to get a fresh start and give him another opportunity to become the great player that he is.

“I just want to see him happy and I want to see the Atlanta Hawks succeed at the same time.”

Williams added that it appears Young will find happiness elsewhere.

The Hawks have had Trae Young as their best player for the last eight seasons. They have reached the conference finals once, in 2021. Since then, they have not had similar success, missing the last two playoff series.

Atlanta has a new young core, and that could mean Young is on his way out of the organization.
