After last year is surprisingly smooth Golden Globes (a sentence we didn't think we'd ever type again), Nikki Glaser officially returns to host the 83rd Annual Golden Globe Awards on January 11.

Yes, the comedian who could make Hollywood laugh with her—instead of staring in disgust into the middle distance—gets a second go. And this time she knows where the bodies are buried. Metaphorically. Most of the time.

Who is Nikki Glaser?

If Nikki Glaser is suddenly feeling all over it, it's not luck—it's time to finally make up the effort.

The Missouri-born comedian has been performing stand-up for more than 20 years, quietly honing a sharp style built on brutal honesty, self-awareness and jokes that land exactly this side of uncomfortable.

She's made a name for herself as one of comedy's most reliable scene stealers, whether she's absolutely a celebrity roast, sharing on late night TV, or turning angst, dating disasters and existential angst into sold-out stand-up specials.

Her special 2024 Someday you will die not only went viral, it won serious awards, garnering nominations across the Golden Globes, Grammys and Critics' Choice Awards.

Beyond stand-up, Glaser has become a staple of pop culture TV, hosting reality hits like FBoy Island and pops up everywhere comedy meets chaos.

Now, at 40, Nikki Glaser is firmly in her starring role: respected enough to rock Hollywood, confident enough to know where the line is, and confident enough to host the Golden Globes again without tanking the atmosphere.

Who is Nikki Glaser absolutely net joking about

Any awards host quickly learns where the invisible lines are — and Glaser has already found one very firm boundary: Julia Roberts.

“No one wants you to make fun of America's Sweetheart. Not even the lightest, most innocent joke,” she told Yahoo. “She is the holiest of cows in America.”

Another nerve? Leonardo DiCaprio.

“I grew up loving Leo,” Glaser admitted. “He was a big part of my sexual awakening as a young girl. I just feel like he's kind of off-limits to me.”

Is Nikki Glaser going harder this year?

Short answer: yes. Longer answer: caution.

After last year's Hollywood cut into her sphere, Glaser feels she's now earned a little more freedom — without falling into cruelty.

“I think I struck a really good balance between great jokes that were a little bit roasty and celebrating them more,” she explained. “Going into this time, I thought, 'Oh, now I'm licensed to go a little harder because the celebrities in the room kind of know who I am.'

That said, she is painfully aware of what happens when a room goes silent.

“When it goes bad, I couldn't have done anything else because I considered every variable,” she told Vanity Fair. “I worked my ass off on this.”

When are the Golden Globes 2026?

The 83rd Annual Golden Globe Awards aired on January 11, officially kicking off awards season and giving us our first batch of viral speeches, fashion discourse and internet chaos for the year.

With Nikki Glaser back in charge—and very aware of who not to cross—the Globes can finally lean on humor that doesn't require a public apology the next morning.
