Why Rose Byrne’s husband skipped the Golden Globes
Aussie actress Rose Byrne won big at the 2026 Golden Globes, but unfortunately her husband Bobby Cannavale, was nowhere to be seen.
The 46-year-old took home the price for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy.
Addressing his absence in her acceptance speech, Rose shocked viewers with the unusual reason he couldn't make the awards.

Clutching her Golden Globe tightly as she spoke, the mother of two said: “I want to thank my husband, Bobby Cannavale, who couldn't be here because we're getting a bearded dragon and he went to a reptile expo in New Jersey, so thank you, baby!”
I do know which event I would rather be at!
In securing the win, Rose defeated Cynthia Erivo (“Wicked: For Good”), Kate Hudson (“Song Sung Blue”), Chase Infiniti (“One Battle After Another”), Amanda Seyfried (“The Testament of Ann Lee”) and Emma Stone (“Bugonia”).
The actress was certainly among good company in her category!
During a performance at The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon at the weekend, Rose avoided her husband's absence … and gave the same reason!
“He can't come, that's such a bummer, he's going to a reptile expo in New Jersey. We're getting a bearded dragon. This expo is the place to go,” she said.

“I think they are beautiful. I think they eat live crickets. I had a friend who had one and she said crickets sometimes escape,” she added.
Revealing that it would be a total “parenting failure” if they didn't get the dragon for their kids, Rocco, 9, and Rafael, 8, she revealed her family's priorities!
