Da Brat & Wife Hit With Death Threats After Choosing White Donor

So sick! Yes Brat and his wife, Jessica “Judy” Harris-Dupart, said they “received death threats” after revealing their son, True, would be bi-racial because of their decision to choose a white sperm donor. What was supposed to be a happy announcement quickly turned into a wave of backlash.
“We got death threats, people told us things like we must miscarry,” Judy told PEOPLE in an interview published February 10.
The pair open up about the painful criticism in their new book, The way that love goeswhich hit shelves earlier this month. Da Brat, who was 49 when she welcomed True in 2023, says much of the angst centered around her IVF journey and the donor she selected.
At the time, Da Brat previously claimed that the Black donor available at their facility was not a good fit and resembled “Jiminy Cricket.”
According to the couple, their decision was driven by limited options and genetic compatibility – not preference. After undergoing genetic screening, her pool of potential donors shrank significantly. During her 2023 interview with The RootDa Brat explained that after eliminating candidates based on Judy's screening results, approximately 300 donors remained, and only one was Black.
However, that option did not feel like the right fit.
“And that [dude] like Jiminy Cricket. I was like, 'I'm sorry, but that wouldn't be my choice,''' she recounted The Root at the time, a comment she later repeated on the last season of Brat loves Judy.
Ultimately, the couple chose a donor who they believed would be a strong genetic match.
“Because we didn't have much to choose from, he [ the donor] definitely wasn't Black. But I think we have a great job with picking. He's handsome, he's tall, and I think he'll look good with my wife's egg.”
Talk to again PEOPLEthey emphasized just how limited their options were after genetic health screening. Dupart pointed to a broader problem within sperm banks: “Only about 3 percent of donor sperm are from black men.”
Haters on social media accused the couple of not wanting to raise “an all-black child.”
Despite that reality, critics flooded their social media pages with hate following news of white sperm donors in the media. Some accused the couple of doing it on purpose avoiding having “a brown baby,” claiming they didn't want to raise “an all black child”.

Judy and Da Brat rejected those claims in an interview with PEOPLEstressed that her only priority was a healthy child.
“She's the most devoted mother in the world,” Judy said of Da Brat, noting that her wife cherished “every minute” of the pregnancy.
However, their journey to old age was not without heartbreak. Before welcoming True, the couple experienced a miscarriage.
“It broke my heart,” Da Brat said of the loss. “But I wanted to try again. Thank God I didn't quit or give up.”
The pregnancy also came with challenges, including “All those IVF hormones!” the rapper griped, but in the end, motherhood was the ultimate reward.
“It's such a blessing,” she added. “After I got back from the radio show, I became a stay-at-home mom. I don't know how I did it any other way.”
“She's the best mom,” Judy added.
Da Brat and Jesseca “Judy” Harris-Dupart are focused on building a healthy, happy family grounded in love, and we love to see it!
