Forest are now looking for a fourth boss for the wild season

The decision to part ways with Dyche was a surprise in some ways – Forest are ninth in the table for the last six games – but not in others. Marinakis is considered a hirer and shooter and is currently looking for his fourth head coach of the season.

After sacking Nuno Espirito Santo in September, Ange Postecoglou arrived but only lasted 39 days before being fired.

Dyche lasted a little longer – 114 days – but the ax fell early Thursday morning. A Forest statement read: “Nottingham Forest Football Club can confirm that Sean Dyche has been removed from his role as head coach.

“We would like to thank Sean and his team for their efforts during their time at the club and wish them the best of luck for the future.

“We will make no further comment at this time.”

Dyche knew Forest sacking was coming

Speaking after the game against Wolves in which Forest managed 35 shots on goal, Dyche sounded like a man who knew what was coming.

He said: “The owner has been fair to me, without a shadow of a doubt. If anyone chooses to change in football now, it's their decision. We've all seen that.

“People can demand change, and the question is always whether they change or not.

“If the owner wants to make a change, it’s up to him, and that’s how football is now, that’s just the reality.

“I understand the noise here has changed considerably since the last few games.”

Pereira is used to fighting fires in the Premier League having joined Wolves when they were second from bottom in December 2024. He inspired a revival and they finished in 16th place.

The Portuguese signed a three-year contract at Molineux in September 2025, but was sacked six weeks later when the team were bottom of the table.
