She continued her rapid-fire verses while lying flat on her back, and finally worked the fall into her floor choreography, with the help of her male dancers, including a series of hip thrusts that had the audience roaring.
The accident, which was captured from multiple angles by fans and quickly spread across social media feeds, took a rather politically charged turn as Cardi regained her footing. With a defiant finger at the metal chair, she pointed at the audience: “That was the government!”
The joke was a clear reference to the escalating online war she has faced with federal agencies over the past week. Just days before the fall, during her tour kick-off in Palm Desert, California, Cardi made it clear that she was protecting her fans by promising to protect them from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
