Arsenal Head coach Mikel Arteta says his side are in a privileged position as they continue to compete on all four fronts this season.

The Gunners qualified for the fifth round of the FA Cup this weekend, League One Wigan send-off with ease, and allowing the head coach to rotate his staff at the same time.

Now the Premier League The management's attention turns again to high-profile action as they travel to bottom-placed Wolves on Wednesday evening.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Arteta said: “Very little time to reset because we play a game tomorrow, then again on Sunday, then we continue to play.

“But it was really good because it means we are in very good competition and in a very strong position.

“It was good because I really liked what the players delivered. Some players ended up getting a lot of minutes and that teaches you the way we attack the game, it was very impressive.

“The position we're in is a privilege and we take it and because we've earned it. For such a long time, seven and a half months is a long time to do the right things every day and perform at the level that we're performing at.

“We have to accept that. Tomorrow we know we are going to play a very difficult match, our recent past with them showed how difficult it was to win the three points.

“I know Rob [Edwards, Wolves manager] very good and it's going to be a difficult test.

Saka praised before new contract

Arteta also took time to talk about Bukayo Saka, with the The Arsenal striker is set to sign a new contract until 2031.

Reports claim the Gunners talisman will earn £300,000-a-week, making him the club's highest-paid player.

Against Wigan, the England international was deployed as a No.10, rather than on the right wing, his traditional position.

He linked up well with Eberechi Eze – who recorded two assists – and as a result, fans demanded that he stays there until the end of the season.

Arteta added: “Certain circumstances can also upset certain players, sometimes it forces you to do certain things but Mikel [Merino] adapted incredibly well to the nine position as we missed Kai [Havertz] and Gaby [Jesus] back then and now we have a problem with midfielders.

“The players are stepping up and Bukayo is the one we need to consider for the future.

“It's really good, especially the way the players react to different tactical roles the way they do.

“I think he does it (like playing as a No.10) and anything that challenges him. He has to prove something, I think, it does something for him and that's positive.”

After Arsenal travel to Wolves on Wednesday, they will return to north London ahead of a massive match against rivals Tottenham on Sunday.

The Lilywhites have new management in Igor Tudor, who is looking to undo the damage caused by Thomas Frank, with Spurs currently sitting 16th in the table.
