Southgate did not intend to make a return of management despite the links of Poland
The former manager of England, Sir Gareth Southgate, says that he is not actively looking for a return to the canoe and admitted that he was surprised to be linked to employment in Poland earlier this summer.
Southgate has been resigned for the end of the final defeat of England Euro 2024 against Spain in Berlin for 13 months, ending an eight -year -old fate that delivered consecutive European championship finals and two deep World Cup races.
Since his departure, the 54 -year -old man has taken time to get out of football, balancing commercial enterprises and working in leadership and training development, while writing a book.
“I appreciate my life,” Southgate told PA. “I have a lot about commercial interests, work with young coaches, writing and time to travel, play golf and paddle. I really appreciate this balance. ”
Asked about the prospect of returning to management, he replied: “You can never say, because 15 years ago, I left Middlesbrough and I was not sure to manage again.
“Then I found myself on a strange path in the national team. But this is not something that I am actively looking at right now. ”
Southgate admitted that he had been perplexed by recent rumors suggesting that he was in the context of taking care of Poland.
“I was linked to the work of Poland, of which I didn't know anything, so it was strange,” he said.
“Something is written and then it is reported everywhere. I just accept it now for what it is.”
Southgate was expressed at the PFA Awards in Manchester, where he received the Merit Prize in recognition of his contributions to football and achievements with England. The current manager of England Thomas Tuchel was also present.
Thinking about the team he left, Southgate said: “They obviously have a lot of good players and there are always fascinating young players. But it is important for me not to say too much, because I don't want to walk on Thomas' toes.”
