AI Is Eliminating Jobs for Younger Workers

Economic at Stanford University have found the strongest evidence yet artificial intelligence begins to eliminate certain jobs. But the story is not that simple: While younger workers are replaced by AI in some industry, more experienced workers more experiences new opportunities.
Erik Brynjolfsson, a Stance Storor University, Ruyu Chand, and Bharat Chandar, and Barat Chandar, the largest payflug in the US, of late 2022, or chatgpt debited, to the middle 2025.
The researchers Discovered different strong signals In the data-that's updated that the assumption of Generative AI Forgot a decrease in the job opportunities for younger workers in sectors previously identified as particularly vulnerable to AI powered Automation (Remember Customer Service and Software Development). In this industry, she found a 16 esposs in the employment in employment for workers 22 to 25 years.
The new study reveals a nuanced image of the impact of AI on labor. While progress in artificial intelligence are often accompanied by Dire predictions about jobs to eliminate – there has little data to be up to it. For example, young graduates relative unemployed, for example, to put 2009, good for the current ai-wave. And areas that may seem vulnerable for AI, as a translation, actually seen an increase in job increase.
“It's always hard to know [what’s happening] If you look alone to a particular business or recdotes says, “Says Brynjolfsson.” That we wanted to watch much more systematically. “
By combination by payment data found the Stanford team that ai's affects ai's affect with an experience of a worker and expert than the kind of work they do. More experienced employees in industry where generative ai is adopted was isolated from task perhaps, with chances of growing or a little. The Finding Backs Up What Software Developers before Told me about the impact of AI on her sector-Name that rote, repetitive work, such as writing code to connect to an API, has become easier. The study study also indicates that AI eliminated jobs, but not lowering wages, at least so far.
The researchers considered potentially confounded factors, including the kovidpandemic, the rise of the remote work, and recent Tech Sector-Layoffs. They found that AI has an impact even if you have books for these factors.
Brynjolfsson says that the study offers a lesson on how to have maximizing the benefits of AI about the economics. He has long suggested that the government could change the tax system, so it does not reflects that do not replace a reward that provide laborification. He also suggests that AI companions develop systems that prioration the cooperation of man.
Brine jolson and another stanford scientist, Andrew Haupt, argument in June in June AI Companies must develop new “Centaur” AI Benchmarks That measures human ai cooperation, to encourage more focus on abundance instead of automation. “I think there is still a lot of tasks where people and machinery and machines can be outforming [AI on its own]”Says Brynjolfsson.
Some experts believe that more collaboration between people and ai can be a feature of the future labor market. Matt Beane, in Associate Professor at UC Santa Barbara who studies AI-driven automatic automatic, that the AI boom expects to make augle for augle work – when managing AI is increasingly more important. “We will automatically as much as we can,” says Beane. “But that doesn't mean that there will not be growing mountain of the enlarged work for people.”
AI is soon ahead, and Brynjolfsson warrants that the impact on younger workers can spread in the seats with more experience. “What we need to do is create a Dashboard a Dashboard early warning system to help us follow this in real time,” he says. “This is a very consequence technology.”
