Barça did not hide the fact that they were pursuing Nico and The sports director Deco even said that he wanted to move to Catalonia – Words that encouraged have caused angry sports fans to vandalize Nico's wall in Bilbao and break a window on the player's car.

A large part of what was said about Nico was a lie

Inaki said: “Family, it was a bit complicated because there was a lot of discussions on my brother and a large part of what was said about Nico is a lie. The only thing he has done was to remain silent. Everyone has the right to think and reflect on their future. At many summer times, people were not fair to my brother.

“The decision for my brother was not easy. His maturity was incredible.

“He was able to choose because he had many offers and there were many teams that submitted to him. He is a higher level player.

“Things have happened dirty, vandalizing the wall, they broke a window in his car …

“He decided with his heart and with ambition. He decided to be with us and leave his inheritance here, just as Julen Guerrero did at the time and be a reference for any player who wants to make his way here.”

The external noise has done damage – Inaki

This was a surprise when Nico embarked on sport with all the noise from the Catalan press indicating that the 23 -year -old would join the Spanish champions, who were ready to pay his release clause by 58 million euros.

According to Inaki, it was not a coincidence.

He added: “We all know how the world of football works and what pressure they wanted to exert on all the players, on my brother …

“A media campaign which, perhaps they may work for them. When we, athletic as a club, want a player, we do so calm. This external noise has done a lot of damage and has soiled things because many things that have been said and disclosed to the media or appeared on social networks.”
