Puma Honor Memphis Depay as a record marker of the Netherlands with ultra-rare boots

Memphis Depay engraved his name in the history of Dutch football last week, going beyond Robin Van Persie to become the top scorer in the Netherlands with his 51st and 52nd goals.

To mark the milestone, Puma has teamed up with the attacker to create the MD51 Ultra – a limited edition design that tells the story of his trip on and off the field.

Built on a white basis, the boots have contrasting colors: one in blue and black to reflect the family, faith and culture, the other in orange and black to capture its football triumphs. The details include its famous lion tattoo, number 10, tributes to its Ghanaian roots and a nod to its mother, Cora.

But fans will not be able to face them. Only 51 pairs exist, each going directly to the people who shaped their life – from the family to the mentors and close friends.

“I was a young boy with big dreams; a little one became a lion on the biggest scene,” said Depay. “To become the top male goalscorer in the Netherlands is a real honor … I wanted to celebrate by giving a special sign of my appreciation to the people who helped me along the way.”

For Depay, these are less media threshing drops and more than one personal thank you. What about everyone? Another reminder than the lion man on his chest now breaks the strongest in the history of Dutch football.
