Sheffield United renamed Chris Wilder after separating with the 57 -year -old only three months ago.

Wilder signed a three -year contract and will return to Bramall Lane to take charge of this Saturday's home match against Charlton in the championship.

He returned for his third spell as a black manager, after being replaced by Ruben Selles on June 18 after United was beaten in the play -off in the championship last season.

However, after a lamentable start under sales, United is at the bottom of the Sky Bet Championship. The former Hull boss was dismissed on Sunday, after losing his five championship games in charge – and six all competitions – with the team marking only once.

Under Wilder last season, Sheffield United accumulated 92 points in the championship, but finished third behind Burnley and Leeds in the automatic promotion race.

The final defeat of the Blades Play-offs against Sunderland ended Wilder in charge of his childhood club.

During Wilder's first spell as a boss, he led the Ligue 1 club to the Premier League.

An official declaration of the club explained the renewal of Wilder: “After a difficult start of the season, the board of directors deemed it necessary to change to stabilize performance and strengthen our pressure for promotion. Although the adoption of a different style of play was pursued with ambition, the results clearly did not meet expectations.

“Chris Wilder returns with proven leadership and an unrivaled understanding of Sheffield United. We are convinced that he is the right person to restore the momentum, unite the team and the supporters, and deliver the necessary results to achieve our goals this season.

“We would like to thank Ruben Selles for his hard work and his professionalism during his stay at the club. The responsibility of recent results resides as owners, and we remain fully determined to support the team and continue the promotion.”

Wilder began to hit the floor while running at Bramall Lane

Sanny Rudravajhala of Sky Sports News:

“We saw the fan's reaction as the results took place in Bramall Lane.

“After the matches this season, there were times when sales have passed and the fans were silent. As soon as they left, they applauded the players.

“The 5-0 defeat against Ipswich, prohibiting the third goal, which was quite unhappy, the others were just chaotic. I think many fans said that Chris Wilder is probably the only man you can bring who can strike the ground and always try to opt for the objectives of the owners, who is promoting.

“Wilder reported 90% of these players; he knows them all, he knows the club. If you want someone to hit the ground with what is still a point deficit, if you wish.

“At the bottom of the league, having lost the five games, Chris Wilder is undoubtedly man to do it. There are very few fans of Sheffield United, certainly in the short term, who would plead against this meeting given what happened with the start of this season.”

What said Wilder after his departure in June?

In an emotional statement in June, Wilder said: “It was with great regret that my stay at Sheffield United ended.

“I would like to thank Stephen Bettis and Prince Abdullah for having brought me back to the club and giving me the opportunity to rebuild the team and advance this big club.

“I would also like to thank all the club's staff, everyone behind the scenes that you do not see often, and, of course, the players who made a monumental effort last season, it was a pleasure to work with you, your desire and your commitment were indisputable and I have no doubt that you have great success in the future.

“For fans, I am obviously disappointed to leave, especially because we were so close to returning to the Premier League. I am a sheffielder from start to finish, I love this club and this city and this feeling will never change.

Chris Wilder's record as a boss of Sheffield United

“I am leaving with darling memories and I am proud to speak in the same way as the special managers of Sheffield United remember – directing this team more than 300 times will remain an incredible part of my life. It's a sincere thank you for all your support.

“Finally, I would like Steven Rosen, Helmy Eltouky and the board will have all the best to move forward. At the top of the blades.”
