Roy Keane shows his sweet side in adorable holiday photos with his grandchildren

Roy Keane is renowned for being a difficult character on and off the field – first as a player, then as an expert – with cracking plates and even harder words on the camera.

But while he is perhaps one of the most dreaded hardmen in football, far from the game and with his family, he is like anyone else-a grandfather adoring with a softer side.

Recently, the former Manchester United captain showed this entire side on Instagram, sharing a series of snaps from a family holiday to celebrate his 54th anniversary.

Among the photos and videos, there were moments of Keane splashing in the swimming pool with his grandchildren, helping them build sand castles on the beach and proudly smiling while holding his youngest – and third – little -child, born earlier this year.

The legend of his birthday message was as warm as the images themselves: “Happy birthday to me. All the gifts I need.”

For a man whose career was built on the grain and steel, it was a rare overview of the public of the milder moments that count the most.

It turns out that the most difficult captains have a soft center.
