The Norris before wing was damaged, but McLaren was able to repair it so that the British driver ended a qualification simulation where he was fifth but 0.483 behind Pace-Setter Piastri, who leads Norris 25 points in the pilot championship.

“”[It] Cost to the team a little money, which is a shame, “said Norris, who dominated the Singapore Grand Prix last year.

“Just a difficult day for me, do not feel too good with the car. Missing all the feelings I had here last year. So, a lot of things to work on. Just a bad day.

“Oscar is fast, so I have nothing to complain about a bar just does not do a very good job.”

“It was usually a good day, I liked driving the car,” said Hamilton.

George Russell was confused after taking a big blow in the wall during the second try and released the red flag

“A little strange to be honest. I don't really know what happened,” said Russell.

“I slowed down a little earlier, I went a little slower, but I lost the back. Fortunately, I went to the front and I didn't do too much damage but it was over. A little boring, sorry for the team for that, but better it happened today.”

Piastri: I had a good day | Verstappen feeling “very positive”

Piastri arrives in Singapore after a nightmare in Baku where he crashed both in qualifying and racing, while jumping the start.

The Australian was back in shape throughout Friday and said that he had “learned a lot” during a “good day”.

“Here, qualifications are a massive part of the weekend. It is a huge part everywhere, but especially here, it is one of the most important, so you prefer to qualify higher and face the unknown for the race than to qualify further, but know exactly what will happen in the race, because it will not help you,” said Piastri.

Singapore is the only Verstappen destination is still to be won on the F1 calendar, but it has momentum, having won the last two races.

The Dutchman said that his team had to “optimize a little more” to fight for pole position against the McLarens.

“It's really very positive,” said Verstappen on Red Bull running faster than the previous racing weekends in Singapore.

“Still a few things that we want to do better, but it is not as if we have to do the configuration completely, so it's a good thing. We will see. Is it going to be good enough to fight the forehead? I don't know.

“I always find that FP2 is a little difficult to say with what people manage motor modes, at high speed. I suppose that we will see in qualification.”
