Thanksgiving is arguably one of the tastiest holidays in the United States and one that will likely have people spending the holiday at home. But what options do you have if you can't go home? Over the past few decades, Friendsgiving has emerged as a popular choice as an additional event or complete alternative to Thanksgiving.
During the holidays, it can be difficult to feel the pressure to do everything right in order to appear or be the well-adjusted adult hosting Thanksgiving dinner be present with the family that can think You know what is best for you. Friendsgiving has opened the door to doing things a little differently. The intention is to create a relaxed, low-pressure (or over-the-top, entirely up to the host) atmosphere. Potluck style dinner with friends and other people in your chosen community – because as cheesy as it may sound, Friends are the new family.
Friendsgiving seemed to fade from obscurity in the 2010s. While its exact origins are disputed, it was likely widely practiced before its fame The Real Housewives of New Jersey in 2011. Even then, it still took a few years for it to gain traction in the media.
