San Francisco 49ers Defensive lineman Keion White is recovering after being shot Monday morning.

White suffered a gunshot wound to the ankle and underwent surgery yesterday. His injuries are not believed to be career-threatening, but this is another gun crime incident affecting the 49ers. Wideout Ricky Pearsall was shot in the chest on August 31, 2024 and missed six games early this season.

The incident with White happened in the middle of the night, just hours after he attended the Super Bowl at Levi's Stadium, home of the 49ers.

A statement from the San Francisco Police Department read: “On February 9, at approximately 4:06 a.m., San Francisco Police officers responded to a business located in the 1700 block of Mission Street regarding a shooting.

“Officers arrived on scene and located a victim suffering from an apparent gunshot. Officers rendered aid and requested paramedics to the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

“A preliminary investigation revealed that a verbal altercation occurred between two groups inside a business. The victim was injured then shots were fired by an unknown person.”

Niners acquired White of the New England Patriots in October. He appeared in 11 games with San Francisco, including the playoffs, making 16 tackles and 2.5 sacks.
