Second-bottom Burnley ended their 16-match winless run with a seven-minute Crystal Palace capitulation that helped Scott Parker's side recover from a two-goal first-half lead to win 3-2 at Selhurst Park.

On a night that should have been very different for Oliver Glasner's side, Jorgen Strand Larsen got off to a dream start on his home debut, scoring twice early on.

It was one-way traffic for the first 40 minutes against a Burnley side who arrived late due to traffic jams, leading to a delayed kick-off.

However, after a frosty start, Hannibal Mejbri pulled one back for Burnley before Jaidon Anthony smartly headed past Dean Henderson to bring the Clarets level.

Burnley weren't done there, however, as as half-time approached Bashir Humphreys' header created a mayhem which resulted in a Jefferson Lerma own goal.

With 45 minutes to remedy their loss of first-half lead, Palace huffed and puffed but could not break down a rare staunch Burnley defense. Palace's only shot on target in the second half came in injury time when Martin Dubravka pulled off a super save to deny Ismaila Sarr the equalizer.

Palace's defeat sees them extend their rot at Selhurst with the Eagles now eight games without a win at home as they drop to 14th.

After being left adrift in the fight for Premier League survival, Burnley's comeback helps them narrow the gap on 18th-placed West Ham to six points.

Glasner criticizes sloppy defense

Crystal Palace chief Olivier Glasner said his team didn't deserve to win.

“When you defend so sloppily, like we did for those eight or nine minutes, you deserve to lose,” Glasner said.

“We controlled the match, scored good goals and watched what the players did. We forgot the bases, the duels, the second balls, the defense, the complaints about the referee's decision, their handball, the stoppages in play.

“We still complain when we concede a goal. Maybe it seemed too easy for us to be too low and control the game.

“Then we were punished in the second half, we tried everything. But if you spoil the game like we did in those eight-nine minutes, you don't deserve to win, and that's why we have to accept it. But honestly, it's very difficult today.”

Parker: Few teams can do what we did tonight

Burnley chief Scott Parker was full of praise for his team after their victory.

“I can't describe to you last weekend, we were at home, and the adversity, the stress, the obvious frustration from everyone. That performance tonight, I'm sorry, there's not many teams that could do that.

“Not where we are, not where we are now, and then coming out of the home game against West Ham, where we're practically getting booed off the pitch by our own fans. I understand that, I'm not criticizing that, I have my views on it, but to come here, to be 2-0 down, that speaks. [volumes] absolutely.

“I have four sons and the only thing I tell them is exactly that. If ever there was a learning for them, my young boys, it was tonight. Because in those moments, in those moments, when people could step back, this group, what you see tonight, yes, it was incredible.”
