Tottenham 'appoint former Juventus manager Igor Tudor as Spurs interim head coach'

Tottenham have appointed former Juventus manager Igor Tudor as interim head coach until the end of the season, according to reports.

Several points of sale, including BBC Sport said former Croatia international Tudor would take over on a temporary basis from Thomas Frank, who was sacked on Wednesday after eight months in charge of the club.

Tudor became Juve boss in March 2025, but was fired on October 27 after an eight-match winless run in all competitions.

Defender or defensive midfielder Tudor began his playing career at Hajduk Split before joining Juve as a player in 1998.

Now 47, he won Serie A twice and Serie B once with the club and reached the 2002/23 Champions League final, returning to Hajduk for the final season of his career in 2007/08.

Croatian Footballer of the Year in 2001, Tudor won 55 caps for Croatia and helped them finish third at the 1998 World Cup.

Why did Juventus fire Igor Tudor?

After winning their first three Serie A games in 2025/26, Juve preceded Tudor's exit by drawing three in a row and losing at Como and Lazio.

The record 36-time Italian champion has failed to win any of his three Champions League matches under Tudor this season.

Two goals in second-half injury time rescued a 4-4 draw in their first European home game against Borussia Dortmund, followed by a 2-2 draw at Villarreal thanks to a 90th-minute equalizer for the hosts.

Tudor's last Champions League match was a 1-0 defeat against Real Madrid, for which Jude Bellingham scored.

Why did Tottenham fire Thomas Frank?

Tottenham are in dire form, having failed to win any of their last eight Premier League games and taking 12 points from their last 17 matches.

As some bottom of the table teams began to improve, Spurs decided to make a move with the club five points above the relegation zone.

Frank built former club Brentford into a strong Premier League side and joined Spurs last June following the sacking of Ange Postecoglou, who led Tottenham to Europa League glory a month earlier.

The Dane expressed confidence he would remain in charge after a 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle on Tuesday, only to leave the following day with a record 13 wins from 38 games in all competitions.

Tottenham are out of the FA Cup this weekend as they lost at home to Aston Villa in the third round, which could give tudor more than a week to work with his players before a home match which promises to be formidable against leader Arsenal on February 22 (4:30 p.m. GMT).

Arsenal won the reverse fixture 4–1 on November 23, but have dropped points in four of their last six league matches.

Spurs He will then have another week without playing before traveling to Fulham on March 1 (2 p.m.).

Their next European match will take place in the Champions League round of 16 against a play-off winner from the round of 16 between Club Brugge and Atletico Madrid or Galatasaray and Juventus.

Their opponents will be confirmed after the draw on February 27. The first leg of the round of 16 will take place from March 9 to 11, with the second the following week.
