Manchester United midfielder Manuel Ugarte said the club knew that he must improve this season under manager Ruben Amorim.

Former sports boss Amorim took care of United in November of last year, but guided them at only seven victories in 27 championship matches and their worst League finish.

United did not manage to qualify for the Champions League because they lost the final 1-0 of the Europa League in Tottenham Hotspur, and finished a 15th place in the Premier League.

“We have to improve things,” Ugarte told British media.

“We are all very motivated, because we believe in the coach, we believe in what he wants and it is very important,” added the Uruguayan, who also played under Amorim at Sporting.

“Last year, we made some changes, we changed our coach, we changed our training.

“You must have responsibilities when you play for United. Sometimes the connections take the time to know each other. I already know the league, the rivals, which is important.”

Amorim has made great signatures this summer, landing Matheus cunha of wolves and Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford.

United will play two pre-season games in the United States, will face Bournemouth in Chicago on Wednesday and will face Everton in Atlanta on Sunday, before returning home to face Fiorentina in Old Trafford on August 9.

They start the new Premier League season against Arsenal on August 17.
