Tottenham Romero defender signs a new agreement

Tottenham defender Cristian Romero signed a new agreement to stay at the club until the summer of 2029.

The 27 -year -old Argentinian internal was linked to a move to Atletico Madrid earlier this summer, but was appointed the new club's captain last week.

New boss Thomas Frank said Romero was a key player.

“I see a very large and very good player. What I like at home and why I chose him as captain, these are his leadership qualities on the field,” said Frank.

“There is great respect for him players. From the field, it also establishes standards.

“The staff told me that they have never seen him train so well. He is in a very good place. I see a player who will want to lead the team and push the team.”

The central rear Romero joined the Spurs for the first time in 2021 on loan from Atalanta before the transfer was made permanent a year later.

The lateral rear Djed Spence also signed a new agreement at Spurs.
